GeneralitŠ°

tree or small shrub from Asia, which in nature can reach 20-25 meters in height. It has leaves smaller than those of the European elms, shiny and notched, oval, dark green. The bark is brown, with light patches in the adult specimens, the branches are fine and very numerous. This plant is widely used as a bonsai for the size of the branches and leaves; being a very robust plant, it is also advisable for beginners, in fact, it can easily recover from periods of drought or excessive wetting, even in cases where the wrong treatments have caused its early defoliation.

Pruning

generally pruned in autumn, at the end of the growing season. Starting from spring, until the beginning of autumn, we proceed to topping the shoots, letting them grow several centimeters before cutting them leaving 2-3 pairs of leaves. Usually the wire is not applied, except in cases where it is strictly necessary, but the crown tends to be formed with appropriate pruning.
